Is it a good place for an African American with an autistic child ?

My father started fishing there in the late 50s, following two of his older brothers. Moved the whole family up in 73'. He fished until he couldn't in 2004. Almost 50 years. I stopped in 96', and my brother is still there fishing. I spent a lot of summers in Larson Bay. Great memories and lots of stories.

I was born at the hospital (probably more like a tiny clinic) at Naval Air Station Kodiak way back in 1963. Before I was a year old, my dad (a naval officer) was transferred to Washington DC. As a result, I have no memories of my birth place and only know about Kodiak from family photos, books, and videos. I certainly hope I can get there someday; it looks magnificent.

Met a lovely Swiss gentleman from Kodiak on a plane in recently. Great stories about his life fishing. 2.5 hours of pure conversation with a complete stranger. Daniel Stihl was his name.

This place has a snob white racist vibe. Great for hunting,bear watching, but this is a racist devil town. Rude arrogant people. Don't come here unless you're white or it's a camping, hunting, or survival training thing. It's good for that. Fuk this shit hole😮

Some of my most memorable experiences were while flying with Lloyd Roundtree out of Petersburg Ak, the owner of Alaska Island Air in the 70s. Gruman goose, De Havilland beaver. or Cessna 180s he was a real bush pilot... that endlessly chain-smoked EriK cigars. There's nothing sexier than a goose landing on a glassy lake at sunset.

Kodiak, what a place! My wife & I visited during the Summer Solstice of the year 2000. Looks like it has changed very little. We loved the wildlife (especially the whales!), the mountains, the shops, the food & the people! The next time that we visit, we want to see some bears!

Flown several times on that plane to a place called Port Bailey in the 80's and 90's . Lived out the bay from there . Good days

I loved kodiak,except every other person I ran into,was a meth head,or drunk punk...I know there is decent people there.

I was stationed there in 1981-82 in the USCG. What an awesome first duty station. I watch videos all the time and can see the changes from when I was there. Love Kodiak and can not wait to go back for a visit.
